GP141 - Satellite Remote Sensing of the Oceans

From MS-Windows' start menu->Programs; select WSFTP or SecureFX

SecureFX:


-Click 'ok' on the first pop-up question.
-Choose a newsession, then:
  • Protocol- choose: FTP over SSH2.
  • Host address: ocean.stanford.edu
  • Give your class username and password.
  • Ignore the Initial directory choice, i.e. just click 'NEXT'.
  • Finish
  • The Connect window will be displayed with the new session highlighted. Click Connect.
  • Click on the topmost folder.
  • The first time that you connect to the new session a New Host Key window will appear. Click Accept & Save
  • then Navigate to data6 on right and then to your working directory ( i.e. to gp235 then to yourdir).
    -On the other Window, i.e. "Local" window, choose or navigate to your folder/file.
    -Drag the files to one window to the other.
    Useful link ITSS secureFX about SecureFX. Its given for leland, but is similar for Ocean.

    WSFTP:

    Fill in the following details:
    -Profile Name: ocean
    -Host Name/address: ocean.stanford.edu
    -User id: gp235
    -Password:
    -It might prompt ( or might not, depending on settings) for the password again.
    -Click OK
    -Under "Remote Site" on the right side, Navigate to your directory: Type /data6/gp235/yourname
    -Navigate to the folder on your local computer (under local System on the left side).
    -Use the arrows in the middle to move the files (after choosing the files, by highlighting them).
